RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD INDUSTRY

I have close contacts with many food processing plants in the Sudan, in the following points I will mention some of these contacts:

1. Evaluation of Karima Canning Factory with concentration on actual production capacity compared with maximum production capacity, general state of the machines and buildings, the quality of the processed products, the level of training, etc.

2. Stim Factory in Medani: the consumers in Medani complained about the bitter taste in Stim drink. As a solution for this problem, I have adjusted the amount of the chemical preservative material ( sodium benzoate) which had been added in higher quantities than recommended.

3. Saeed Canning Factory: I was asked to solve some technical problems in the lines of juice and jam making.

4. During my academic stay in Germany, 1993, I was exposed to the technology of freezing of fruits, vegetables and meat, using very advanced technology. I followed the process starting with the preparation of food for freezing till storage of the frozen product under low temperature.

5. El Shiekh Mustafa Al Amin and El Sayed Flour Mills. I gave both mills definite suggestions to improve the quality of their flour. These suggestions include also the addition of certain flour improvers which were brought by me from Germany. These flour improvers include an Enzyme Compound for potassium promate Replacement called Alphamalt BX. It is known that potassium promate, which is widely used in Sudan as bread improver, is carcinogenic.

6. Bitar Oil Factory: They looked for help to improve their waste water disposal system and wanted through improvement of the technology of oil processing to reduce the amount of waste water and to reduce the degree of contamination of water.

7. The factory of the food Security Company: They needed my help to improve the formulation of their biscuits and dried ready meals which are sold to the Sudanese Army.

8- Looli Meat Factory: I have contacted this factory to convince them to use acid spray which has been developed by me to keep the meat in quality for 5-6 days when stored at 10˚C instead of 2˚C the normal storage temperature Raising the storage temperature from 2˚C to 10˚C will save much energy and money

9- Raira Milk Product Factory: They contacted me to improve the quality of their yoghurt and flavored milk.

10- Khidir Sweets Factory in Medani: I helped in improving the quality of the sweets and the technology of sweet making.

11- El-Ginaid Sugar Factory: I gave suggestions for the industrial utilization of the sugar industry by-product molasses and bagasse.

12- Kassala Dehydration Factory: I was a member of the mission which had prepared a proposal for the rehabilitation of the factory.

13- Kassala Canning Factory (Tropi): An American Businessman wanted to buy this factory and I was his consultant in this business. The production capacity of the factory was found to be far less than what he has expected and the state of the machines was not good enough to advice him to buy this factory.

14- Tahania Sweet Factory in El Kamlin: I was asked to evaluate this factory because a certain company wanted to buy it.

15- Al Abdel Ghani Bakery in Medani and many other bakeries in Medani and Khartoum. I was asked to help in improving bread quality.

16- Blue Nile Diary Products (Capo): I was the local expert for issuing the ISO-Certificate by Lloyds Company (English company).

17- I have discovered a chemical mixture for the preservation of fish, animal leather and meat (patent).
