4.2.1. Animal Trypanosomioses:
a. Pathogenicity of Sudan strains to various livestock species and their epidemiology.
b. Improvement and introduction of modern technology for detection of the disease e.g. IFAT and ELISA and other advanced techniques.
c. Studies in Trypanotolerance.
d. Studies in the phenomenon of drug resistance of the caustive trypanosomes to trypanocidal agents.
4.2.2. Schistosomiasis:
In collaboration with the Bovine Schistosomiasis Project, Department of Pathology for the study of some immunological aspects of S. bovis in Sudanese cattle aiming at the development of a vaccine.
4.2.3. Thieleriosis:
In collaboration with Juba University and NORAD for the isolation and characterization of Sudan strains of Thieleria spp. to be utilized in vaccine production.
4.2.4. Internal helminthiasis:
Studies on epidemiology of helminth in man and animal, their zoonotic nature and control possibilities.
4.2.5. Disease vectors:
Biting flies and snails ecology aiming at development of sound control strategies.
