I. Courses taught at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Khartoum:
Since I was appointed as a teaching assistant in 1972 and while working on my Master’s Degree (1973-1976) I have shouldered academic responsibilities related to re-arranging, re-organizing and scheduling and teaching laboratory classes:
The laboratory classes taught (1972-1976) included:
1. Physical Chemistry (1st Year Agric.)
2. Inorganic Chemistry (1st year Agric.)
3. Organic Chemistry (1st Year Agric.)
4. Geology (1st Year Agric.)
5. Soil Science:
a- Soil Physics (2nd year Agric.)
b- Soil Chemistry (2nd year Agric.)
c- Soil genesis and classification (2nd year Agric.)
d- Soil classification (5th year Agric.)
e- Soil chemistry (5th year Agric.)
f- Soil fertility and plant nutrition (5th year Agric.)
After obtaining my Ph.D. (1980) and joining the academic staff I have been responsible for and participating in teaching the following courses:
1. Soil science 32 – “General soil science”(3rd year Agric.)
2. Soil science 41 – “Soil genesis, classification & morphology” (4th year Agric.)
3. Initiated and designed a new option course which has not been taught in the Department before (i.e a new addition to the Dept.) entitled:
“Soil Microbiology and Biochemistry”. The course was approved by the senate of the University as an option course for 5th year (final year) students majoring in soil science and crop protection. The course is being taught since 1982 and it offered new technologies related to the activity of microorganisms, their biochemical reactions and interactions in soil and their contribution to environmental pollution and wastes biodegradation.
4. Currently (2008) teaching the following courses , Faculty of Agriculture University of Khartoum :
a- Fundamental of soil science .
b- Introduction to Environment .
c- Environmental law .
d- Environmental economics .
e- Desertification and its campaign .
II. Courses taught to students in other University Institutions (University of Khartoum):
1. I have designed and taught a post graduate course on the chemistry of waste water for the Master students majoring in sanitary Engineering, Dept. of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, University of Khartoum (1982/83 – 1983/84). In this course I have been responsible for both the theoretical as well as the laboratory classes.
2. Part-time lecturer in the rural education course (soils) (Extra-mural programme executed by the Faculty of Agric. in collaboration with the Institute of Extra-Mural Studies, University of Khartoum (1981-1983 and then during 1986 till August).
3. Co-operating staff member with the Institute of Environmental Studies, University of Khartoum: Participating in academic boards and project discussions and supervision of graduate (MSc) students.
4.Currently (2005 ) teaching a postgraduate course on Water Quality Management: UNESCO Chair in water, Khartoum Sudan .
5 – Desinged and teached a course entitled ” Environmental Studies ” for Garden City Private College Students ( 2005/2006 – 2006/2007 ) .

1. Supervisor and co-supervisor for as many as eight MSc. Students at the University of Khartoum (1980-1986).
2. Designed and taught a graduate course on chemistry of wastewater for MSc. Students majoring in sanitary engineering, Dept. of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, University of Khartoum (1982/83 – 1983/84).
3. Supervised the MSc. Research ( on water Quality ) of two graduate students who graduated 2006 & 2007.
4. Currently ( 2008 ) supervising two MSc. students and two PhD. students working on water quality products .
5. Designed and taught an MSc. Course on ( Environmental Microbiology ) for postgraduate students in the faculty of Public and Environment Health – University of Khartoum ( 2008 ) .
6. MSc. Thesis Examination Committee membership and Journal paper reviewing:
a. External examiner for as many as 6 MSc. Students majoring in environmental studies and soil fertility at the College of Meteorology, Environment and Arid land Agriculture, King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
b. Member of the committee assigned the task of suggesting an MSc. Curriculum in the specialty of Water and Natural Resources in the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (6 May 2002).
c. Permanent member of the committee assigned the task of revising and reporting on thesis research work submitted by new staff members in the Department as they arrive from abroad pending appointment by the University as Assistant Professor in the Dept. depending on this report.
d. Reviewed and refereed many articles submitted for publication in the following Journals:
