1992                    Member of the Committee for housing pharmacy studentsreturningfrom universities abroad, according to the Minister of Higher Education’sdecision.

1993 – 1994        Coordinator of the Faculty of Pharmacy’s Master byCoursesCommittee. 1993 – 2000  Faculty   of   Pharmacy   Representative   in   the   “Development   of English

Language Committee”, University of Khartoum English Language Servicing Unit.

1999 – 2000        Secretary, DepartmentofPharmaceutics. 2000 – 2007     Head Department ofPharmaceutics.

 

During the period of my headship the following activities were achieved:

 

  1. Organized, followed up and assessed training of 2nd and 3rd year students in community and hospital pharmacies all over the Sudan during the summerholidays.
  2. Made an agreement with the Sudanese Pharmaceutical Industry Union for the annual training of 4th year students in the local industry. Each factory is now committed to accommodate a specified number of students for a specified period of time during the three months summer vacation fortraining.
  3. Organized abroad training of 4th year students in the Pharmaceutical Industries and supervised training in the following countries: Syria (2000) and Egypt (2001, 2003 and 2004).
  4. Rehabilitation of the department that resulted in thefollowing:

 

a)          Inventory of the stocks of chemicals, glassware and equipment and preparation of lists of actual needs and determination of theshortages.

b)         Computer database for laboratory needs and determination of a minimum order level for chemicals andglassware.

c)          Expansion of the students’ laboratory to accommodate 80 students instead of40.

d)         As a result of the laboratory expansion, an office and a chemical store were built in part of the pharmaceutics researchlaboratory.

e)          Replacement of three offices some of which has been removed in the expense of laboratoryextension.

f)          Equipment and functioning of the new pharmaceutics laboratory in the new building that has a capacity of 100students.

g)          Made available enough chemicals and glassware from the Laboratory Administration, U of K, the local market andabroad.

h)         Rehabilitation of a new Microbiology students’ laboratory to accommodate 50 students instead of the old one that accommodates 24students.

i)           Started working in rehabilitation of the pharmaceutics researchlaboratory.

j)           Made available 2 HPLC and 2 GC-MS machines through donations from the University of Liverpool, UK andUAE.

  1. Coordination and running of the Pre-Registration Training for 100 Pharmacy Graduates as described by the WHO and in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Planning and Services Department, General Directorate of Pharmacy, FMOH,Sudan.
  2. Appointment of five Teaching assistant and training of three of them, who obtained their masters degree under mysupervision.
  3. Postgraduate training of three teaching assistants, who obtained their masters degree under mysupervision.
  4. Appointment of 3 technicians and 2 labassistants.

1999 – 2004        Establishing Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, The University ofMedicalSciences and Technology, Khartoum,Sudan.

During the period of my Deanship the following activities were achieved:

 

  1. Building of the Faculty of Pharmacy within the Academy premises: Contributed effectively in the designing, follow up and furnishing of 4 laboratories, 3 offices and 1 classroom.
  2. Preparation of lists of Chemicals, Glassware, Equipment, Instruments and Booksneeded for the five years pharmacycourse.
  3. Set up of the curriculum structure and subjects distribution through the 10semesters
  4. Preparation of course details for all subjects in collaboration with expert professors from Sudan and the UnitedKingdom.
  5. Establishment of the Faculty of Pharmacy regulationsincluding:

 

a)      ExaminationRegulations

b)      Student’sEvaluation

c)      DegreeClassification

d)      PrizesRegulations

  1. Established links for training of studentsin:

a)      CommunityPharmacies

b)      Hospital Wards andPharmacies

c)      Local Pharmaceuticalfactories

d)      Abroad Pharmaceutical industry(Egypt)

 

7.      Graduation of the First Batch of Pharmacystudents

 

2002 – 2009                Establishing Coordinator, Master in Clinical Pharmacy bycourses.

During this period the following has been achieved:

 

Establishment of the first Master by courses degree in Clinical Pharmacy in Sudan. The first time in the history of the Faculty of Pharmacy a degree of this kind was offered. Tasks included:

  1. Preparation of the core body for thedegree
  2. Having it approved by the Department of Pharmaceutics Board, the Faculty of Pharmacy Research Board, the Graduate College Committee, and the Senate of the University of Khartoum
  3. Preparation of time tables and calendar ofdates
  4. Set up of internal selection criteria forstudents
  5. Daily follow up of the implementation of theprogram
  6. Rehabilitation of an old building to accommodate the new program activities, resulting in the establishment of a computer laboratory for postgraduate students equipped with 24 computers and full access to the internet and an electronic library. Also the rehabilitation of two classrooms for postgraduate student teaching and twooffices.
  7. Establishment of a small library and making all books needed for teaching in the clinical pharmacy programavailable.
  8. Founding of a deeply rooted relationship with Soba University Hospital for clinical training of MCP students, resulting in the refurbishment of the Soba Pharmacy Department to accommodate the modern pharmacy practices and serve as a model for undergraduate, postgraduate and in-servicetraining.

2004 -2006         Member of the Executive Committee for the Accreditation of the Facultiesof Pharmacy in Sudan. Ministerial Decree No. 61, the year 2004.5/10/2004.

2004 – 2005        Member of a Subcommittee of the Examination and   Prizes Committee assembled for the revision of the academic curricula of the Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, and General and Environmental Healthcolleges.
