o   2001: Researcher in the field of systematic and molecular biology (The effect of geographical distribution on the genetic constituent of papyrus (Cyperus papyrus) plant native to Uganda, using different techniques for DNA fingerprinting.

o   Currently carrying research on:

1.  The use of molecular Markers to study genetic diversity in Acacia senegal: an important cash crop in Sudanese savannah (research funded by the International Foundation for Science)
2. The study of land use in Sudan using remote sensing techniques (Sudan Gis Group).
3. Supervised number of M. Sc. Students (Khartoum University) and currently supervising research on:

• Assessment of impact and adaptation to climate change: Lesson for Climate Change Adaptation from Sand dunes fixation Project in the White Nile.
• Rainwater harvesting methods with reference to some projects in Sudan semi-arid region.

·      Desertification in Sahel and Desert Countries; a comparative study of current situation in Sudan and Chad.
