May 1994 to 2000:

Teaching Assistant and MSc graduate student (1996-1998) in the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Khartoum, Sudan:

  • Teaching and supervising third year veterinary undergraduates in Parasitology practical classes.
  • Involved in research programs in the Department and developed good experience in serological and parasitological diagnostics and research techniques viz. AgELISA, electrophoresis, etc. The main projects were:
    1. Epidemiology of tropical theileriosis: 1. Assessment of susceptibility of exotic and local breeds of cattle to infection with Theileria annulata in the Sudan. 2. Vaccination trials using tissue culture attenuated vaccines”. MA Bakheit and AA Latif.
    2. Joint FAO/IAEA Project # 7597 SUD entitled “Epidemiological studies on non-tsetse transmitted bovine trypanosomiasis in Khartoum State, Sudan” part of the joint project “Use of immunoassay methods for improved diagnosis of trypanosomiasis and monitoring tsetse and trypanosomiasis”. M Fadl, Husna Ibrahim and MA Bakheit.
    3. Establishment and evaluation of indices for expected danger of introduction of Chrysomya bezziana (Old World Screwworm Fly) in the Sudan.  EE ElOwni, SM Hassan and MA Bakheit.

April 2001 to December 2004:

Doctoral student in the Research Center Borstel and the Free University of Berlin, Germany.

Subject of the work: Identification and characterization of genes and proteins of Theileria lestoquardi and their application in diagnostic tools. Doctoral Degree awarded in the Free University of Berlin.

December 2004 to December 2009:
