1972-1974: Conducted research on breeding, selection, production, and storage of onion cultivars suitable for dehydration in a project directed to solve problems of dehydration factories in Sudan. (Sudan Agricultural Research Corporation).
1975-1982: Conducted research on Ripening and Storage of Bananas and Peppers, Disease Resistance in Apples and Pears, and Polygalacturonase Inhibitors in Pears. The research was carried out in partial fulfillment of the M.Sc. and Ph.D. requirements. (University of California – Davis).
1982-1987 and 1990-2010: Supervised the research of 31 postgraduate students at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Khartoum. The research investigated different post-harvest aspects on Bananas, Mangoes, Oranges, Grapefruits, Limes, Guavas, Papayas, Dates, Muskmelons, Onions, Potatoes, Tomatoes, and Faba Beans. (Faculty of Agriculture, University of Khartoum).
1987-1995: Conducted field trials on Post-Harvest Handling Systems of Bananas, Oranges, Papayas, Tomatoes, Onions and Garlic in PDR-Yemen (1987-1990); of Grapes, Bananas, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Onions and Garlic in Republic of Yemen (1991-1992); of Tomatoes, Onions, Oranges and Papayas in the Union of Myanmar (1993); and of Globe Artichokes in Egypt Arab Republic (1994-1995). Quantitative and qualitative losses at the different stages of the marketing channel were assessed, critical loss points were identified, and preventive measures to reduce postharvest losses and to improve quality were introduced. (Food and Agriculture Organization – UN)
