North Trent Training Scheme
October 2000 to October 2001
I joined the North Trent Training Scheme as a SpR in the final year, as per recommendation by the Royal College of Psychiatrist in order to be eligible for the GMC Consultants register.
I worked in the North West Sector with Dr Danitza Jadresic, Consultant Psychiatrist with a special interest in neuropsychiatry. During this period I obtained the following experience.
¨ I had a leading role in the Limbrick Day Service, catering for Day Service for patients with both severe enduring mental illness as well as minor psychiatric problems. This involves regular medical input in the multi-disciplinary team meetings, weekly patient review clinic, participating in patients’ and carers’ groups (giving advice, lectures, counselling etcetera).
¨ Running a weekly Out-reach Clinic for psychiatric out-patients based at the University Health Centre and a GP’s practice within the West Sector. With a predominant input to University students with psychiatric disorders. Also offering psychiatric support to relevant GP’s and presented psychiatric seminars to GP’s/nurses on the management of students with psychiatric disorders.
¨ I participated in the MRCPsych Part II Course in Neuropsychiatry. I presented lectures in the induction course for new doctors coming to the Trust, and ran regular seminars to medical students.
¨ During this period I had the opportunity to use my special interest session in neuropsychiatry (I attended EEG and Epilepsy Clinics at The Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield) and also attended Dr Danitza Jadresic’s Neuropsychiatry Clinic at The Northern General Psychiatric Out-patients. Moreover I had the pleasure of getting regular supervision/support from Dr Danitza Jadresic.
¨ I spent four months of my special interest sessions with Dr John Davies, Clinical Psychologist in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy, attending assessments of new patients. I received regular support in my caseloads for psychotherapy counselling.
¨ I am doing research on the revalidation process of doctors with supervision and support from the Department of Medical Education at Dundee University, Dundee.
¨ I have taken the lead responsibility for the crisis team within the sector based on our local rota. This role covers emergency psychiatric response, domiciliary visits and mental health assessments.
¨ COMMUNITY HEALTH SHEFFIELD

I joined Community Health Sheffield as a Locum Consultant Psychiatrist in the South West Sector. Taking full responsibility in running a community mental health team, outpatient and inpatient service, besides participating in supervising junior colleagues and teaching medical students.
