April 2005: promoted in the preliminary phase to associate professor.
July 2004: consultant in charge of CT sub-department in Soba university hospital.
1st May 2001 – present:Returned back to original job as assistant Prof. in University of Khartoum in Sudan & consultant in Soba university hospital.
Also founded & headed the most modern radiology department in the country for a private practice containing MRI, spiral CT, Screening room, Plain radiography, Orthopantomography, mammography, dental machine, U/S & Colour Duplex machines. Most of the known radiological examination & procedures were practiced in this centre.
May 1999 – April 2001: Visiting Senior Specialist Registrar training job, which was partly in King’s College Hospital in London and partly in the Conquest Hospital at Hastings. During this
job: conducted different radiological activities, like plain film reporting, U/S & colour Doppler U/S, reporting CT & MRI, conducting different radiological procedures like Barium & urological examinations (including antegrade & percutanous nephrostomy), PTC with drainage, HSG, DCG, sialogram & performing different interventional
procedures like U/S & CT-guided biopsy & drainage, angiography & angioplasty. Special experience was gained in liver transplant imaging, neuro-imaging & breast imaging. In addition to teaching medical students, house officers, senior house officers & junior registrars.During this period obtained the FRCR degree.
April – August 1997: On clinical attachment in Radiology Department in King’s College Hospital, London.
December, 1996 to present: Promoted to status of Assistant Professor job in
the Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum & as a consultant radiologist in Soba teaching hospital. The job entitles teaching
undergraduate medical & radiography students & post-graduate radiology & other speciality post-graduate students plus carrying on radiological activities as a consultant in Soba teaching hospital.
September, 1996: Passed the final MD clinical radiology, with distinction level.
Nov. 1993 – Nov, 1996: Enrolled in a rotational registrar job in Soba University Hospital, Khartoum Teaching Hospital, Ibn Sina Hospital and Modern Medical Centre and Omdurman Military hospital, a period of 6 months in each. Received training in reporting routine X rays and C/Ts, performing routine U/S and special U/S guided investigations and conducting special radiological investigations including urological, & Barium Studies, PTCs, angiographies etc. This was under direct supervision of specialised Radiologists in the hospitals mentioned
Meanwhile: Conducted a prospective study in 160 tuberculous patients, to identify their radiological and clinical pattern. This thesis was submitted in partial fulfilment for the final MD degree.
November, 1993: Passed part I MD clinical radiology with distinction.
Nov 1992 – Nov 1993: Enrolled in the course for Part I Clinical Radiology, Intensive courses in anatomy, radiological anatomy, radiation physics, radiography and positioning and procedures and special investigations were taught.
November, 1991:Joined the department of radiology in the faculty of medicine in the University of Khartoum in a teaching assistant job. This was concerned with helping in teaching anatomy and radiology to the undergraduate medical and radiography students. At the same time, undertaking duties as a selected registrar of radiology in the radiology department in Soba University Hospital. This is a big teaching Hospital of the University of Khartoum with 500 bed capacity and very good investigation facilities.
Feb 1990 -Feb 1991: Medical officer (SHO) in the radiology department in Ibn Sina Hospital. Received training in performing special investigations like urological studies , eg IVU, M.C.U.G., retrograde etc., and Ba. studies, eg. Ba. meals, Enemas etc. and Ultrasound, under direct supervision.
Mar 1998 – Feb 1990: Medical Officer ( SHO)in the gastro-intestinal department,Ibn Sina Hospital. The job was dealing with in-patients and referred out-patient clinics, received training in ward Ultrasound and U/S guided biopsies of the liver and peritoneum.
Ibn Sina is a specialised Hospital in gastro-enterology, ENT and renal diseases with 300 bed capacity and excellent investigation facilities.
Dec 1986 – Mar 1988: House Officer in the department of Medicine, surgery, paediatrics and obstetric and gynaecology in Khartoum Teaching Hospital. This is a resident job concerning the in & outpatients, and dealing with emergency duties.Khartoum Teaching Hospital is the biggest hospital in Sudan with 1000 bed capacity and contains very good investigation facilities.
