Field Experience

Worked for the mechanized farming corporation (M.F.C) of the Ministry of Agric., Sudan from Dec 1974 to June 1994 – in different Jobs and different regions of Sudan including:

1-     State farms at Agadi, Blue Nile Region (200,000 acres): Jan 1975 – Jan 1978 as a sub-farm manager – and at Nerteti State Farm, Darfur Region (10,000 acres): Feb 1978 – July 1980 as a farm manager.

2-     A full-time student during the period Oct 1980 – Oct 1982 at Cranfield Institute of Technology, Silsoe, U.K. (M.Sc. programme).

3-     Co-manager of “Simsim Dry Land Project”, Gedaref Region (10,000 acres), “Sudanese – Canadian Project” Nov 1982 – May 1984.

4-     Deputy and Acting Manager of Regional Corporations at Damazin (July 1984 – August 1989) and Gedaref (Aug 1989 – June 1994) Gedaref and Demazin are the largest and most important mechanized farming rain-fed areas of the Sudan, Producing large quantities of sorghum, sesame and other crops.

5-     Participated in several conferences, workshops, seminars, and short training programmes like:

a)     The first agric. Conference at Khartoum, 1975.

b)     Seminar about “sunflower” at Damazin in 1988.

c)     Seminar about “striga” by Int. Sor Mil. Organization and Agric. Research Corporation (A.R.C) at Wad Medani in 1990.

d)     Short training course integrated pest control by FAO and A.R.C at Wad Medani in 1990.

e)     Workshops on “mechanized Farming problems in Sudan” at Khartoum and Gedaref in 1991 and 1992.

f)      Seminar on: “The Mechanical Harvesting of Sesame” at Gedaref in 1993.

g)     Participated in several regional committees and activities.
