RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

(A) Food Security

In the context of Food Security and coping with national policy to increase food production using the optimal packages e.g. fretilizer and water management practices I have conducted the following research projects:

(1) Effects of water regime, organic manure, Rhizobium inoculation and micronutrients application on the performance of Phaseolus vulgaris.

(2) Redistribution of nutrients as affected by water and organic amendments applied in different soil orders.

(3) Corn (Zea mays) performance under different water regimes, soil types and organic and inorganic fertilisers.

(4) Organic compost formulation under aerobic and anaerobic conditions.

(5) Phosphorous solubility as affected by organic and inorganic fertilizers under sunflower (Helianthus annus L.) cultivation.

(6) Foliar application of micronutrients on Phaselus vulgaris L.production as compared with reducing soil pH by using elemental sulfur under alkaline conditions of the Sudan.

(7) Alternate use of good and saline quality waters in the production of vegetables.

(8) Organic agriculture.

(B) On Going Research Activities

(1) Interactive Effects of Water Regime, Organic and Inorganic Fertilizers on guar production under saline conditions.

(2) Miskeet composting.

(3) Alternateuse of good and bad quality waters in the production of wheat.

(4) Organic agriculture.

(5) Saline agriculture.

(6) Emissions and levels of dioxins and furans in areas of sugarcane industry in Sudan.

(7) Effect of integrating tillage and manure on sorghum growth and yield in “Gardud” Soils.

(8)Suitability of upper terrace soils for wheat production in the River Nile and Northern States.

(9)Adsorption of pesticide and insecticides on some clay minerals and organic matter in some soils of Sudan.

(10) Wetlands evaluation as carbon reservoir to address the challenges of climate change.

(11)Induced phosphate release using elemental sulfur in saline sodic calcareous Vertisols grown with sunflower(Helianthus annuus L.).

(12) Composting of Farmyard and Chicken Manures through forced aeration, aerobic, anaerobic and Vermin Processes
