Contributions towards the Development of the Institute of Extra Mural Studies (Now Faculty of Technological and Developmental Studies)

The following achievements were made during my tenure as a director of the Institute of Extra Mural Studies in the period from 1994-1999:

A road (120×5 m) to the north of the Extra Mural Studies building was officially added to it. This was greatly appreciated by the University Administration ( see attached letter).

  1. Three lecture rooms were built (capacity 80-120 students).
  2. A library for the students was built (capacity 110 students).
  3. A two-story building for administration purposes has been established.
  4. The above buildings were supplied with all necessary equipment i.e. furniture, computers, photocopy machines and audio-visual aids.

During my tenure as a director of the Institute of Extra Mural Studies, and a dean of the Faculty of Technological and Developmental Studies, the University of Khartoum witnessed a lot of cultural activities such as:

  1. Public lectures and symposia.
  2. Workshops in the field of distance education.
  3. The Twelfth Arkaweet Conference on “Tourism in the Sudan“, organized by the Institute of Extra Mural Studies, University of Khartoum in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism. Arkaweet Hotel, Red Sea State, 12-15 Dec. 1996.
  4. The Thirteenth Arkaweet Conference on “Sudan and its Neighboring Countries: Factors of Stability and Development“, organized by the Faculty of Technological and Developmental Studies, University of Khartoum in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
