Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum.

–        Member of the Faculty Board.

–        Member of the Faculty Research Council.

–         Head of the Medical Committee at exam time.

–        All the academic and clinical responsibilities of the teaching staff.

–        Convenor of the clinical MD-Psychiatry Training Program .

–        Member of the Postgraduate Medical Studies Board.

1994-1998   Assistant Professor of Psychiatry , Faculty of Medicine , University of Khartoum, Sudan

This involves:

• Lectures, seminars and tutorials to final and semi-final medical students.

• Clinical training for final year students.

• supervision of semi-final students on research involving Community Psychiatry ( an assignment of the Department of Community Medicine).

• Examination and evaluation of final MBBS examinations in Psychiatry.

• Member of the Faculty Boatrd as Secretary of the department.

• Deputizing for the Head Department in his absence.

1992-1994 Teaching Assistant ,Dept. of Psychiatry, Khartoum University

This involved:

•Helping in the duties of the Department.

• Functioning as a Registrar of Psychiatry.

 

2=Clinical

 

1994 to date   Consultant Psychiatrist, Khartoum Teaching Hospital

(Simultaneous with the above mentioned academic posts ).

This involves:

•Head of a unit in a 30 beds Psychiatric division. The unit includes a Registrar ( Postgraduate student in clinical training),3-5 Medical officers, 1-3 Houseofficers, 2 Social workers, 2 Psychologists and Nurses

•Looking after in-patient

.clinical meetings and rounds.

•A weekly out-patient clinic in a Polyclinic set-up affliated to the teaching hospital.

•Clinical training of postgraduate students (Registrars).

•Supervision and training of Social workers , Psychologists and nurses .

 

 

1990-1994   Registrar in Psychiatry and postgraduate student,

This involved:

•In charge of out-patients & in-patients at three different

hospitals on rotational basis including Tigani El Mahi

Psychiatric Hospital (120 beds).

•Postgraduate training for a degree of MD including a thesis

.Organiser of the postgraduate clinical meetings for three years

 

1987-1990   Resident Physician ,Security Forces Hospital Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

This involved:

–        Mainly working in Primary Care Clinic set up in a 200 beds hospital.

–        Sometimes working at the Accident and Emergency Department.

–        Special interest in Paediatrics and Psychiatry.

–        Member of a Medical Committee For new military (police) recruits.

–        Member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the hospital.

 

1983-1987   Resident General Practitioner, King Khalid University Hospital , Riyadh ,Saudi Arabia

This involved:

–        Looking after out-patient in Primary Care Unit, , part of a 300 beds Teaching hospital run by the Faculty of Medicine King Saud Universiy.

–        Periods of in-patient service in the Department of Medicine at King Abdel Aziz University Hospital, Riyadh.( another hospital under King Saud University)

–        Working at Accident and Emergency- Paediatric and Medical Departments.

–        Special interest in Medicine and Paediatrics.

–        Teaching of medical students in a primary care setting as part of community medicine course

1979-1983   Resident General Practitioner ,National Guards Medical Medical Services , Riyadh. , Saudi, Arabia

This involved:

–        Out-patint polyclinic working in different specialities.

–        Accompanying Saudi Military troops training in the desert as a medical support physician. many times.

–        Participating in the medical services missions to Hajj seasons in Mekka 3 times.

 

1978-1979   Medical officer in Children‘s Emergency Hospital , Khartoum,Sudan

This involved:

–        Looking after children coming to the Emergency Department, out-patient and in-patient.units under supervision of consultants and registrars.

 

1977-1978   Internship :- twelve months rotaion in Surgery, Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Paediatics, Sudan.
