Educational Development Center for Heallth Professions (EDC) Activities

As Director of E.D.C-Khartoum the following was accomplished:

  • The center was relocated in a new building with adequate administrative, educational and  and training space, more staff were recruited and new equipment & technological support was provided.
  • Re-establishing relation with WHO EMRO and other regional educational institutions and the educational institute in Dundee- Scotland
  • Reform of the curriculum of Faculty of Medicine, U of Khartoum was completed and endorsed by the faculty board.
  • A number of medical education courses on curriculum planning ,teaching methods and evaluation were conducted .Participants included staff from medical schools all over Sudan. Courses were W.H.O. sponsored.
  • Training courses for trainers in nursing & midwifery on teaching methods skills training & evaluation were conducted in collaboration with M.O.H.
  • Curriculum documents were prepared and finalized in workshops for a number of newly established medical schools.
  • Curriculum documents for nurses, medical assistants & midwifery cadres were reviewed and reformed in collaboration with M.O.H.
  • Several workshops on medical education & partnership were conducted.
  • Students learning were supported through provision of more video-television sets & videos, organized activities in the skills laboratory and preparing and publishing a student manual for skills.

Other contributions:

  • Member of the executive committee of the Association of Medical Education in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (AMEEMER).
  • Chairman & member of task force for curriculum planning for a number of newly established medical schools.
  • Director &facilitator of workshop on curriculum reform, Sana’a University , April 1999.W.H.O assignment.
  • Consultant for establishment of E.D.C at Abha University (S. Arabia) 1999. W.H.O assignment.
