The research areas are: The effect of inoculation and N-fertilization on , virus infected faba bean. Efficiency of local and introduced rhizobia in inoculating different legumes. Inoculum carrier production. Possibility of isolation of resistant rhizobial strains to temperature, pesticides, etc.. Possibility of cross inoculation between rhizobial strains of wild legumes with commonly grown leguminous crops.
2- BIOTECHNOLOGY : Biofertilizers and Food Quality
The effect of biofertilizers and food quality, areas include: Improving the protein and the physical properties of legumes using biological fertilizers. Improving legume’s protein and protein digestibility using mycorrhizal inoculations. Effect of Rhizobium and mycorrhiza inoculation nutritional value of plants and seeds.
3- MYCOLOGY : Mycorrhizal Association
The effect of mycorrhizal association on: Plant growth, development and yield. Decreasing infection and damage of some plants diseases. Interaction of rhizobia and mycorrhiza on legumes
4- VIROLOGY : Prevention and Control
The current research include: Control of bean viruses using rhizobia. Control of onion viruses using mycorrhiza . Control of cowpea viruses using rhizobia and mycorrhiza
5- NEMATOLOGY : Prevention and Control
The research areas include: Reducing the harmful effect of root-knot nematode by improving plant nutrition. Control of root-knot nematode using vesicular arbusicular mycorrhizal fungi. Interaction of soil microorganisms with nematodes in the rhizosphere.
6- SOIL SCIENCE : Fertility and Salinity
The current research include: Effect of salinity on faba bean, chickpea and fenugreek cultivars. Organic fertilizers versus biological and chemical fertilizers. Modeling the effect of salinity on legumes in response to biofertilizers. The role of microorganisms in reducing the harmful effect of pesticides in soils.
7- ENVIRONMENT : Environmental impact
The current research include: Effect of treated sewage water on forage production. Environmental hazards of sewage water. Physical, chemical and microbiological characteristics of sewage water. Microbiology of pesticides degraation.
