10/05/2016 – CURRENT – Khartoum, Sudan

-Lecturer at the department of Medical Microbiology, Feb,2020.

– Teaching Assistant of Medical Microbiology, 2016-2019.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of practical requirements in microbiology labs such as;
    Culture media, Samples collection & Containers selection, Isolates,
    Stains preparation, Biochemical tests, Antimicrobial susceptibility
    tests, Serological tests, Microscopes & Instruments and SOPs
    implementation in labs.
  • Teaching all practical sessions for graduate and undergraduate students which includes; Bacteriology, Mycology, Virology, Immunology, Molecular biology and Quality control.
  • Preparation of practical examination, evaluation of the academic performance and assessment processes of students.
  • Supervising the practical side of training for undergraduate students by equipping medical convoys from the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Sciences to the rural areas in Sudan to provide the necessary
    diagnostic materials, help in diagnosis of diseases and increase awareness of people about the method of diseases transmission, infection, prevention and control.
  • Conducting research projects and teaching the applied medical research to help the undergraduate students carry out research branches in different areas of sciences with special concentration on
    Microbiology and related genera. I have had experienced several molecular techniques such as RFLP, PCR, Gel electrophoresis, DNA and RNA extraction (Manual and by different Kit types), immunological
    techniques, all Cultural and antimicrobial susceptibility testing for different organism types.
  • Carrying out the administrative work in the department such as secretarial work &monitoring inventory of supplies including all requirements for initiation of laboratory work beside other duties
    related to the department.

National Measles Laboratory, National Public Health Laboratory

The reference laboratory for diagnosis of Measles, Rubella and Polio viruses infection in community of Sudan. I have mastered several techniques that used for identification of viruses infection such as:

  • Receiving,labeling and processing of specimens according to established protocols and policies of the reference lab
  • Performing Immunological tests: Enzyme Linked Immune-sorbent Assay (Direct & Indirect ELISA methods)
  • Cell Culture technique for culturing of Polio virus
  • Molecular techniques: Conventional & Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
  • RNA extraction methods for viruses (Manual & by kits)
  • Data entering and result analysis
  • Bio-sefty protocols and quality control implementation in the reference
  • Participating in safety and infection control activities
  • Utilizing the laboratory information system to receive/send Laboratory specific communications

Medical Laboratory Technologist

National Public Health Laboratory

National Public Health Laboratory is the reference laboratory in Sudan. During
this year I worked as Medical Laboratory Technologist. Duties included:

  • Providing instructions to patients regarding collection of various blood & non-blood specimens for laboratory testing
  • Labeling and processing specimens according to established protocols and policies of reference lab.
  • Performing routine laboratory tests to investigate, diagnose and identify causative agents of infection diseases specially at the Microbiology laboratory such as; Macroscopic and microscopical examination, staining techniques, blood culture, different culture techniques, sero-diagnostic testing and antimicrobial susceptibility
    testing methods
  • Interpretation of lab results
  • following quality control procedures and SOPs standards in the clinical
    lab.
