• Co-ordinator of Newcastle Khartoum Link. This is a British council sponsored link which was discontinued after the Gulf war. In the year 2001, we managed to resurrect this Link. So far, exchange of two departmental staff was arranged and will be followed by other two staff members from both sides next year.

• Co-ordinator of Padoua Khartoum Link. This is a new collaboration which was completed last year. Two departmental staff members and one from Padua participated in this exchange program and another two were due for next year.

• Co-ordinator of Lima Khartoum Link. This is an irregular collaborative effort with Gorgas Memorial Institute of Tropical and Preventive Medicine, Lima University, Peru. All African universities compete in this program to teach African tropical paediatrics’ course which is organized once a year in Lima. Since 1988, two of the departmental staff members were tutors in this course.
