{"id":18,"date":"2014-07-11T19:15:33","date_gmt":"2014-07-11T19:15:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staffpages.uofk.edu\/nahla-hashim\/?page_id=18"},"modified":"2014-07-11T19:15:33","modified_gmt":"2014-07-11T19:15:33","slug":"work-experience","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/staffpages.uofk.edu\/nahla-hashim\/?page_id=18","title":{"rendered":"WORK EXPERIENCE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <strong>pre-registration posts<\/strong> I achieved:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Confidence in dealing and communicating with patients and their relatives.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Competence in dealing with Medical, Surgical and Paediatric emergencies and new admissions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Competence in clerking and aspects of management of patients relevant to each of the three disciplines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Medical Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dealt with most of the medical emergencies in the casualty departments of Internal Medicine and Paediatrics.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gained competence in dealing with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Paediatric dehydration and malnutrition.<\/li>\n<li>Infectious tropical diseases with special reference to Tuberculosis, Malaria, Mycetoma and Leishmaniases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I was able to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as venous cut down, lumbar puncture and gastric lavage.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dealt with Psychiatric problems and attended and helped with psychotherapy and E.C.T. sessions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Surgical Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gained competence in dealing with general surgical emergencies such as haemorrhages, acute abdomen and abscesses.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Theatre assistance in abdominal surgical operations such as appendicectomies, herniotomies and cholecystectomies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Surgical skills such as wound stitching.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Surgical management of patients with Mycetoma.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Covered the Orthopaedic casualty department and dealt with different fractures, haemorrhages and other Orthopaedic problems.
