Dissertation Title: Rethinking Khartoum’s Colonial Architecture: A Case Study of a Forgotten Legacy along Nile Street.

It aimed to study Khartoum’s colonial architecture, investigate its unique architecture, understand its distinctive spirit and explore the reasons behind its deterioration. It called for the need to rethink the meaning of colonial architecture. The study focused on colonial architecture along Nile Street as the case study. The findings, however, demonstrated the need to accept colonial architecture as the legacy of Khartoum and thus, restore its forgotten uniqueness via adequate preservation and better reutilization with the necessity to overcome the negative meanings associated with the colonial buildings, and instead restoring their positive memories that would narrate the independence ofKhartoum.
