The project constitutes part of Khartoum State\u2019s Structural Planning process currently underway. The LED study included assessment of the existing poverty alleviation initiatives and the role of micro-finance therein.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">Assisted Sudan\u2019s Program for Graduates Self-employment with training of its Micro-finance Beneficiaries (for one-week) in each of Gedaref State and River Nile State, 2007 and 2008 respectively.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">Assisted ILO Acting as (its) interim focal point in Sudan (September 2007 \u2013January 2008), in which capacity also participated in Bank of Sudan\u2019s Micro-finance (unit) Conference, Khartoum 2006, and several other meetings and workshops organized by the same unit.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">Rural Institutions Consultant for UNFAO Task Force for the preparation of (EU funded) Sudan Productive Capacity Recovery Programme (SPCRP) targeting conflict affected areas in southern, western and eastern Sudan, March &#8211; July 2004.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">National Consultant for promoting good local governance \u2013 UNDP assisted Project SUD\/ 02\/001- Support to Local Government in Khartoum State, January-March 2003.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">National Consultant (Sudan) for the joint UNDESA (DPAPM)\/ UNDP RBAS Project RAB\/ 01 \/006: Transparency and Accountability in the Public Sector in the Arab World; conducting and reporting documentary and field survey (for six months in 2002, and participating in several related and follow-up events, including Global Forum Four &#8211; on Government and Administration in Marrakesh, Morocco and other meetings in each of Beiruit, Lebanon and Dubai, UAR).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">Participated as a juror in World Bank\u2019s Development Marketplace (micro-finance \/ micro-project competition) event held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, March 2002.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">Assisted Sudan\u2019s National Council for Childhood in the preparation of its Second National Plan 2002-2007.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">Member (and leader) of team for assessment and re-formulation of the (UNDP assisted) Area Rehabilitation Scheme Lagawa Project, West Kordofan State, Sudan, May-June 2000.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">Prepared (published) a field study entitled \u201cLocal Voluntary Community Participation in the Funding and Provision of Municipal Services in Khartoum State\u201d for joint (regional) conference of the Arab Institute for Urban Studies and Khartoum State (in Arabic, Khartoum, Sudan), October 2001.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">Assisted ILO Turin Centre in training engagement teams (of UNDP\/ILO supported community development projects) in Malawi and Zambia, July-August 1999.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">Assisted ILO Turin Centre in translating (from English into Arabic) five UN System Training Modules on development cooperation and project cycle management, and in applying then (twice) in training development management personnel from Arab countries, during July 1996-February 1999. More recently, also assisted World Bank (Sudan office, 2007), and Sudan\u2019s Zakat Fund and ILO (2006 -2007) translate official documents (English into Arabic and vice versa).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: times\\ new\\ roman, times;\">Visiting scholar at Columbia University Institute of African Studies, New York, NY.
