1. Clinical activities
*Consultant in charge of a 24 bedded medical unit at Soba University Hospital, duties include:
*Conducting twice weekly ward rounds with house physicians and postgraduate medical students.
*Conducting weekly journal clubs and tutorials with house physicians and postgraduate medical students.
*Conducting a weekly medical outpatient clinic at Soba University Hospital.
*Conducting twice weekly gastrointestinal endoscopy sessions at the endoscopy unit, Soba University Hospital. This is a tertiary referral endoscopy centre for both diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures including endoscopic examination of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract and Endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography for examining the biliary system, extraction of common bile duct stones and placing stents in biliary strictures.
*Teaching Advanced and Basic life support courses to physicians and nursing staff since 2004. This involves teaching the art of resuscitation and includes providing guided training and hands-on practice in basic and advanced airway management, chest compression, recognition of cardiac arrest rhythms and the use of defibrillators. More than 120 doctors and nursing staff are trained every year at Soba University hospital.
