June, 1997-Present: Head Petroleum Engineering Dept/University of Khartoum,
Planned and supervised all the Establishment stages of the Petroleum Engineering Department in the Faculty of Engineering & Architecture, University of Khartoum.
Faculty of engineering first year coordinator (1997-1998).
· Initiated and co-supervised training of national operators and maintenance workers for Petrodar Operating Co. The project value is more than 500,000 USD used to finance new equipment and computers for three laboratories in petroleum, mechanical, and electronics departments. Most of the Faculty staff and workers have benefited from this project (2005).
· Supported Schlumberger Company Ambassdor Program and works as focal person of the company at the University of Khartoum.
· Supervised Petrodar Production operators training program in the Faculty of Engineering (2006/2007) for more than 300,000 USD.
· Worked as co-principal investigator for a joint research project with University of China for Petroleum entitled: “Strategy for Restart of Greater Nile Co. (GNPOC) waxy gelled pipeline” with Principal investigator Dr. Mohammed Hashim (mechanical Engineering Dept.), 2007.
· Worked as principal investigator for a research project for a new device for quick screening of flow improvers polymers for Pipelines with Dr. Kamal Nasr Al Deen (Mechanical Engineering), 2006/2007
· Worked as principal investigator a research project for using Drag reducing agents to increase the throughput of product pipelines with a group of doctors from both petroleum and mechanical engineering departments (2004/2005).
· Headed Ministerial committee (Ministry of Energy & Mining) for solving different problems of Al-Obied Refinery fuel oil transportation, storage and industrial processing (2002/2003).
· Participated in Ministerial committee for development of petroleum and mining education and research, Ministry of Energy and Mining (2007).
· Worked as focal person for the local energy group in Sudan (Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC), May 2000.
· Participated (in the last 6 years) on 9 international conferences & workshops for different WMO/UNEP as petroleum specialist: Germany, Norway, Canada, Peru, Brazil, China, Australia, Spain, and New Zealand.
· Participated as lead author in the IPCC Carbon Capture and storage report (Chapter 5) IPCC, UNDP Publications, December 2005.
· Participated as lead author in the IPCC 4th Energy report, Chapter 4, Energy Supply, Global Hydrocarbon resources (December 2007) WMO, UNDP Publications.
· Headed the petroleum and industry Energy Assessment Committee (Assessment update), Ministry of Energy & Mining 2003.
· Worked as consultant in different capacities with petroleum service companies.
· COMESA consultant for petroleum products standards.
1991-1996: New Mexico Petroleum Recovery Research Center–USA
Employed as research assisstant working on a Project entitled “Improved Oil Recovery” sponsored by USA Dept of Energy & 7 major oil companies.
1986-1991—Ministry of Energy & Mining-Sudan
Manger of Techno-economic Studies Department–National Energy Administration (Ministry of Energy & Mining). The administration worked as technical secretariat and thinking tank for the Minister and performed studies for strategic planning of the country in the energy field. I was directly supervising three sections (Energy resources, Energy conservation and Energy environmental impact Studies). The total number of employees of the department was about 25 graduates (four Ph.D’s. and several Masters).
During this period I prepared in cooperation with other employees the country paper in several conferences in USA and Arab countries.
During this period I was involved in preparations of the First country Energy Assessment and the first National Energy Plan. I was primarily the coordinator for petroleum de-bottlenecking committee and participated in other hydrocarbon related committees.
