Research:
Field Experience: I had the pleasure to work in more than one field trip to eastern Sudan for collection of Malaria, Lieshmania and Sickle cell samples for research purposes. Samples included blood, DNA, RNA, urine and stools (2005-2007).
I also shared in a number of Medical trips from the University of Khartoum to different rural villages in Sudan (2000-2007).
Techniques practiced in MSc: DNA extraction and quantitation, different types of PCR (ARMS-RFLP), DNA sequencing, Gel electrophoresis, Alkaline and Acid Hb electrophoresis, Column chromatography, Densitometry, Hb F estimation, introduction to bioinformatics and statistical genetics.
Teaching experience:
I was awarded a Merit certificate for Excellent Teaching Skills, University of Khartoum (2008). It was my pleasure to work for 4 years as teaching assistant at the Department of Haematology, Faculty of Medical Lab. Sciences, University of Khartoum (2004-2008). In order to devote that experience with academic knowledge, I took an Education preparation course and was then qualified for Lecturer position after completion of my MSc.
Service Experience (Including techniques):
This includes six years of continuous experience in diagnostic laboratories including Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Microbiology, Parasitology and Clinical chemistry. I am a specialist scientist performing a wide range of haematology investigations including: Full blood count, first line coagulation screening (PT, APTT, TT, Mixing studies), DDimers, Plasma viscosity, lupus anticoagulant, thrombophillia screen, hemophilia screen and factor assays, VWF assays, platelets function test, Ristocetin cofactor, HPLC (Hbpathy screen), Hb S test, Hb H screen, G6PD screen, WBC cytochemistry, Immunophenotyping, protein electrophoresis, immunofixation, bone marrow staining and Cytospin preparations.
