 –        Director of Albaraka Bank (Sudan) Legal Department.1998-2007   with the following responsibilities:

  • Drafting contracts in the different areas of commerce, construction and investment. All contracts entered into by the Bank are drafted by the legal department.
  • Providing legal advice on matters of commercial law, banking and other related areas of law.
  • Representing the Bank in court litigation.
  • Direct and manage the Legal Department. The Department consists of five members; however, there are other eleven branches outside Khartoum with an external legal advisors reporting directly to the head of the department in Khartoum. The Head of the Department is also the legal advisor to the Board of Directors in matters relating to shares, general meeting, and other related matters.

     – Legal Advisor, Shell co of Sudan 1998-2000:

Draft contracts including Depots and Petrol Stations construction and sales contracts. The Shell co has two kinds of contracts n relation to the sale of its products. Either the dealer will build the petrol station on his own expense or the company will build the station and the rent it to the dealer. In both cases a detailed contract will be prepared and authenticated by the legal advisor. At that time, the company was also selling most of its property in Sudan. We prepared and executed all those contracts of sale.

Represent the company in courts. The legal work in the company was centralized in Khartoum. As a result the legal advisor has to follow all the cases inside and outside Khartoum. Because of the difficulty of following and supervising the cases I stopped working as a legal advisor to the company and confined my self to the legal department in ALBARAKA BANK since the year 2000.

 – Associate member of many legal firms in Sudan e.g. Fadeel and  Akrat, Omer Abdelati:

Participated as a par-time legal advisor in some Sudanese firms. Helping in many contracts negotiations with different companies e.g. reviewing BOOT contract for the erection of water refinery station in Khartoum, Joint Venture agreement for construction of dwelling apartments and Joint venture agreement for the establishment of petrochemical factory between Canadian and Sudanese partners.
